Things to know
Passports/Visas
If you are form the E.U, no visa is required however a full passport will be needed. Also your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the end of your stay. When going to Guadeloupe, you will need to be in possession of a return or onward ticket.
People from the U.S or Canada do not need a Visa for stays not exceeding 3 months.
Any other person of other nationalities should check on the required documents prior to booking your trip to Guadeloupe.
The Climate
Summer is a great time to visit the Islands due to the fact that the beaches, roads and restaurants are not crowded.
However, Christmas and New Year is the most popular time. People are usually coming to hide from winter.
Holidays reservations are usually made months in advance.
We consider December to May as the dry seasons. However, March and April are the hottest months throughout the year.
We consider June to November as the most humid season. Rain showers or clear skies can occur at any time during the year but usually nothing too heavy to disturb your enjoyable stay.
Air temperature in coastal areas ranged from 22°C to 30°C. In the rain forests and higher elevations travellers will find more rain and cooler temperatures.
Health
If arriving from an infected area, an International vaccination certificate against yellow fever is required. There are no other compulsory vaccinations. However, it is advisable to have these vaccinations up to date:
Hepatitis A
Polio
Typhoid
Tetanus
You are responsible for taking advice from your GP or at specialist vaccination centres as requirements may change at short notice.
You are advised to carry sun block and mosquito repellant.
In Guadeloupe, tap water is generally safe except on small islands. (e.g., ilet Oscar). If in doubt, you can use reputable brands of bottled water.
Luggage
International flights/ Air France 25 kg.
Between Islands 20 kg.
Dress code
During the day time, casual clothes are recommended. Shorts, t-shirts, sandals, beach towels, comfortable walking shoes, swim suits must be part of your travellers wardrobe. If you wish to go out clubbing or go to the casino, smart clothing must be considered.
Electricity
220 volts with two French pin type in Guadeloupe.
Driving
If you wish to hire a car an international driving licence is recommended. In Guadeloupe you will drive on the right side of the road.
Insurance
